Ah, I do love it when I can get my hands on a YouTube short that revolves around zombies.  They’re cheap to make, simple to film, and don’t depend on a lot of high tech special effects.

They’re the great equalizer in horror film, and today, we’re going to look at one such equalizer, Zombies! Emergency.

Zombies! Emergency pits a group of college students against most of the entire city of Pittsburgh, which has turned into a horde of undead people-eaters.  Will they escape?  Will they be zombie chow?

Will this movie suck?  Let’s find out!

First off, the answer to the above is no.  Though there are some problems here–in many cases the dialogue is unnatural and a bit stilted, there’s enough of the actual college experience in here to suggest that, yes, this is what zombie apocalypse might look like on a college campus.  That authenticity, even if it is a bit forced, lends this movie a note of credibility that definitely helps.

The Screenhead Ten Scale’s willing to forgive some mistakes and hands Zombies! Emergency a six out of ten for competence in the face of possible epic suck.
