Kevin Smith’s latest film, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, has run into quite a few obstacles from production to the big screen, most of which can be blamed on the film’s title. While in production, they had to use the working title “Zack and Miri” to avoid problems with local permits and shooting locations, and then their promo ad was deemed too suggestive. Now, fifteen newspapers and several television stations are refusing to run advertising for the film. Of course this is all in the sexually-repressed land of America, and such madness would likely never occur overseas.

Fox Sports dropped a series of ads scheduled to run during Dodger’s game, which were reportedly dropped at the team’s request when viewers started to complain. The city of Philadelphia refused bus stop advertising, and a child development expert filed a complaint in Boston.

Right now the Weinstein Co. is considering using a censored title in newspapers that rejected the intial advertisement. They already created a poster for the infamous stick figure as that now is missing a title which is instead replaced with “Seth Rogan and Elizabeth Banks made a movie so outrageous that we can’t even tell you the title.”

It’s funny, and yet sad at the same time.  What’s next, refusing to run ads for anything with “Sex” in the title?
