Zach Braff on Why Fast Track is Slow Coming
January 18th, 2007 in Actors, Directors, Movies
Most celebrity blogs are dry, dreadful and reveal nothing of interest, but not Zach Braff’s. I was wondering why Fast Track wasn’t being released this weekend as planned, and found the answer on the Scrubs star’s blog:
“This is what happened to “Fast Trackâ€: None of the stars of the movie (me, Amanda Peet, Jason Bateman) are available at all right now to promote the movie. It was supposed to come out this week, but between promoting the Scrubs musical and shooting Scrubs and sleeping and doing all my other projects, it became impossible to get out there and plug it. And you can’t release a movie without the stars of it going out and telling the world about it.”
Braff also suggests that it might get a title change, when it’s finally released (March 9th 2007, according to imdb).
“The studio always hated the title, because the movie has nothing to do with a fast track. Nothing to do with tracks or fastness at all. So since we moved the date they seized the opportunity to change the name to “The Exâ€, since it is indeed about a nightmare ex-boyfriend (Jason Bateman) who tortures a current boyfriend, me (Zach Braff).”
Other info garnered from Braff’s blog:
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is writing a new Fletch movie and may want Braff to star as a young Fletch.
The Scrubs musical (tonight on NBC) might be the best 1/2 hour of TV in 2007 (though he might be a little biased).
His next directing job will be Open Hearts, a remake of Susanne Biers’ Dogme film about an engaged couple whose relationship is torn apart when the man is paralyzed in an accident.

[...] Obviously, other films aren’t running scared of a movie starring Sean Bean, it’s juts that fate has conspired to make this a dead week. The post holiday season is always a bit light, but with Fast Track being, er, slow tracked the weekend belongs to Mr. Bean (not that one). [...]

That Scrubs musical was the worst thing I’ve seen in forever. Yes, forever. Maybe ever, I dunno.

Agreed. Last night was the first time I’ve ever switched off “Scrubs” in horror. It definitely wasn’t the best half hour of TV in 2007, it wasn’t even the best half hour of TV on last night.
