World Trade Center DVD Review: Didn’t I see this on CNN five years ago?
December 12th, 2006 in Dvd, Reviews
If you are anything like me and you watched CNN for twenty-nine hours straight on September 11th, nothing in this movie will surprise nor entertain you. It’s too bad we live in an age where whenever something newsworthy happens; a movie is soon to follow while the images are still fresh in our heads. This movie would have been a lot better in 2018. And without Nicolas Cage.
World Trade Center is a movie about a small group of New York police officers and their families as the infamous attacks on 9/11 occur. If you need any more information about this movie, you don’t own a computer and you aren’t reading this anyway. For those of you who are reading, let me give you my impression on this disappointing movie.
Obviously this movie is predictable, but they could have at least made it suspenseful or something. They used recognizable actors for some of the officers so in the first few minutes you knew who was surviving and who was dying. Also, when the officers arrived at the towers, they kind of just walked around and talked for a while. I’m almost sure there was a little more panic then that, but what do I know, I wasn’t there. There was just alot of waiting, really. I began making dinner during the boring parts.
In the end, World Trade Center should have been a documentary on A&E and not a big budget Hollywood movie. Sure, you’ll be touched. Sure, you may get a better understanding of these tragic events. If that’s what you want, then rent the movie. If you want to be entertained with the same information, download the first twelve hours of the CNN broadcast and pop some popcorn.
