As you know I posted earlier that Nicole Kidman most definitely is pregnant. Therefore, Kate Winslet replaces her in “The Reader.” Go baby!!
Luckily, Kidman never went in front of the camera, so no time or money lost.
Winslet takes over the role opposite Ralph Fiennes and up-and-coming German actor David Kross.

As the casting story goes, Winslet knows the script because she was first choice for the role but unable to do the film because of a scheduling conflict. Kidman took the role, and the filmmakers built in a hiatus to accommodate her when the production of the “Australia,†which went longer than expected.
By the time Kidman withdrew due to pregnancy, Winslet was available again, and the film will remain on schedule.
