What I Want From Lost Tonight

February 7th, 2007 in TV

Lost logoLost returns to US television tonight (10 p.m. Eastern, ABC) after a winter break, and I’m both excited and a little concerned. Not concerned for Ben’s safety - I’m concerned with this show jumping the metaphorical (DHARMA branded) shark. Season Three opened with a fantastic twist that had me convinced this was the best show on television.

Then it meandered around and went nowhere right up until the not-all-that exciting cliffhanger that should get resolved tonight.

So, for Lost to win back its place in my must-watch list, here’s what I want tonight:

(WARNING: end of Season Two, first half of Season Three spoilers below…)

1. Resolve that cliff-hanger. Don’t be one of those shows that returns to the moment of suspense, only to go off in a completely different direction. No one likes that.

2. Tell me something about how The Others got to the island. Were they born there? Did they move there?

3. Tell me something about what The Others are up to. No more meaningful glances that mean nothing to me.

4. Tell me something about the silly black smoke monster thingy. It’s moving from mysterious, scary threat to slightly lame CGI creature.

5. Give me some of Juliette’s back story. She’s clearly the most sympathetic and interesting Other. I want to know why.

6. Tell me something about what happened when the hatch exploded. The sky turned purple, that has to mean something doesn’t it?

7. Season two closed with Desmond’s ex-lover answering a phone call from some men in the Arctic/Ant-Arctic (somewhere very cold). That was interesting. Tell me more…

8. What happened to Walt? He had those weird abilities that seemed to be really importany. Then he just sailed away with his pops. Are they coming back or what?

Obviously tonight’s episode can’t satisfy all my curiosity, but at least give me something. I used to be fascinated by The X-Files but when that started going in circles I just gave up. I’ll re-check this list tomorrow and see what happened…

I went through a big Lost phase a while ago, and from what I read, you will get the following:

More about the past of the Others
A juliette Back story (actually, it’s already been shown?)
I imagine you’ll have to find out about the hatch and why it exploded yet killed no one
    More about Desmond’s lady friend
And nothing about Walt… pretty sure he’s fecked off althogether, as the actor playing Michael hasn’t signed on for anymore… yet????
Plus, you didn’t mention it, but you’re gonna find out more about Libbey through flashback. Posthumous flashbacks??? Weird

By my count, they answered your questions #1 and #5, and touched upon #2 and #3. Also, it is good to see that Tom Cruise’s cousin has nothing else better to do than to continue with posthumous cameo appearances on LOST.

Just saw lost and all I can say is that Lost is the best show on TV for a reason!

The episode was a great way to start the year and I must say adding Juliet to the cast was a fantastic decision! Her flashbacks were engrossing and you could finally see some vulnerability!

Another highlight for me was when Kate was telling back the story and I was actually moved to tears! Which is surprising since I always found tht particular story boring and kudos to Lilly and Fox for their brilliant performance in the scene!

    Lost is back baby!
