Weinsteins To Release Bob Dylan Biopic

Todd Haynes’ long anticipated and completely mental sounding Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There will be released by The Weinstein Company, after former Miramax head honchos Harvey and Bob announced they’d bought the North American and UK rights today.
Several distinctly different actors will play Dylan (reports say either six or seven) in Haynes’ film, each representing different aspects and periods of the singer-songwriter’s life. One of the actors will be Cate Blanchett, who - last we heard - was a woman.
It’s the imaginative kick in the ass the modern biopic needs after solid but straightforward releases like Ray and Walk The Line. Haynes odd approach compliments Dylan’s own wacky genius and deserves to be seen by a wide audience, which is where the Weinsteins come in:
Producer James Stern said
“I am delighted that Harvey [Weinstein] has joined our team. This is an astonishing and dynamic film and now has a distributor on board with the marketing brilliance to bring ‘I’m Not There’ center stage. I couldn’t be more pleased to be working with Harvey again.”
There’ll be plenty of big names for the Weinsteins to work with. As well as Blanchett, Heath Ledger, Richard Gere, Christian Bale, Michelle Williams, Charlotte Gainsbourg (from The Science Of Sleep), Julianne Moore and - best of all - David Cross are apparently involved.
