Waterston promoted to Law and Order D.A.June 7th, 2007 in Actors, TV |
In a cast that has seen several actors come and go, Sam Waterston has proven to be one of the more durable actors on the long running series, Law and Order. Waterston’s character, Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy has endured some thankless cases that went against his philosophy, answering to the conservative District Attorney, Arthur Branch. Now with Fred Thompson, who played Branch, stepping back into the political arena, the opportunity was created for a new District Attorney.
Although Waterston will have greater authority in his new role, he will also have less screen time, stepping into the chair previously occupied by Steven Hill, Dianne Wiest and Thompson. The forthcoming season will be the 18th for the series, and 14th for Waterston. There is no news on any other changes or additions to the cast.
