waterhorseposter.jpgA friend of mine and her daughter raved about “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep,” saying if was funny and delightful. Usually, my friend doesn’t get excited about “kid movies,” and she sees a lot of them with her daughter, who is six, so she should know.

Even her six year old laughed and laughed, which is any endorsement if you ask a parent.

The weekend box office reported “Water Horse” in seventh place and grossed an estimated $9.2 million from 2,772 runs with a total of $16.8 million since opening on Christmas.

Yes. I am an animal lover. Horses are just wonderful, loving animals. I am not sure what you are talking about in regards to “I am Legend.”

But it sounds like “Water Horse” more your kind of movie?

Let me know how you like the movie.

When my niece, sister and i left the theatre after seeing that movie, I commented “Last time I saw that movie, it had a whale in it.” My sister said “Last time I saw that movie, it was called ET.”

The movie is so amazingly similar to Free Willy, that both feature the title character jumping over something to their freedom at the end. It’s hard to believe someone could make so blatant and unoriginal a movie.

    Okay, I get the picture.

The review at Variety referred to “E.T.” similarities, but not “Free Willy.”

Plus the story takes place in Scotland and at a lake. There are probably some differences and similarities.

It’s a familiar story, but the trailers looked pretty cute. Anything that will keep a six-year-old entertained is nothing short of a miracle.

I actually didn’t like the trailers. Seemed sort of far fetched or odd to see the Water Horse, but when my friend said she liked it and that her daughter did, too. These two go to kid’s movies all the time. I thought, it must be good.

Chris — movies with a message that is worth seeing is very important. When actors like Will Smith take on a project as such, it’s even better. “Legend” brought in a lot of money — $311 million, which means a lot of people saw the film and got the message. It’s hard to believe that the story is based on a 1954 book…second thought: it makes sense.”)

If you care about the message so much, you’d read the original book, which had a valid point. The movie dropped everything to do with the book’s message, favouring instead a two-hour action sequence with over-the-top special effects and overly-loud product placement. You can’t talk about messages when all you see are Will Smith movies that rape the books they’re based off.

    Or, more simply put:

GO READ BOOK BECAUSE UR WRONG AND U R RONG AND ALSO IT MOVIE BAD U SHOULD TOTALLY NOT SEE THAT MOVE BECAUSE IS BAD LOL

Yes, book inspire. They allow the reader to use his imagination.

Not enough can be said about the importance of reading a book for pure enjoyment.”)
