It was just announced today that Denzel Washington is set to star in Book of Eli, a post-apocalyptic drama to be directed by Allen and Albert Hughes.
Washington plays a lone hero in a not-too-distant apocalyptic future. He must fight across America to bring knowledge to society that is the key to its redemption.
Gary Whitta wrote the script, and Anthony Peckham did the rewrite.
Filming begins in January.
Book makes the Hughes brothers first drama since 2001’s “From Hell.”

The Book of Eli? Excuse me but haven’t we heard this one? Er seen this one? FREEDOM DEEP! With a new Final Directors Version about to be released and the original having screened throughout on TV and DVD what is the point? Denzel Washington? (the new Charles Bronson of mono facial expressions and reactions). The 2 directors of From Hell? What the hell? it took 2 directors to make that?
