dear-draculaKickstart Entertainment has bought the rights to Image/Shadowline comic Dear Dracula by Joshua Williamson. The series was released as a 48-page volume through Silverline.

The kid’s tale saw a boy – who loved his horror more than the average boy – write to the famous vampire on Halloween just as anyone his age would write to Santa Claus. And, as you can guess by now, the bloodsucker decides to visit him.

The project was initially being developed as a stop-motion film, but the producers have now opted to make a CGI film. Kickstart is the studio behind Wanted, which is best known for baring Angelina Jolie’s bare back and bending bullets, though the latter is irrelevant when it comes to Jolie’s back.

Williamson himself is penning the script, noting that he has “kept everything from the book and expanded on it… if people enjoyed the book, they’re going to love the movie.”
