The upcoming Keira Knightley film ‘Atonement’ has been given first class treatment by the Venice Film Festival. The new movie, directed by Joe Wright, Ian McEwan novel of the same name. If you are thinking that you are having a case of Deju Vu over the Knightley/Wright combo it is probably because they worked together in the critically acclaimed movie version of ‘Jane Austen’s Pride And Prejudice’. The honor opening the Venice Film Festival is a major achievement for Wright.
“For the first time in its history, the opening film is the work of a young director,†said festival head Marco Muller. “It is a film that, in terms of emotive and visual power, is greater than some of the major films of many acclaimed directors.â€
The Venice Film Festival, which is the oldest Film Festival in the world, runs from Aug. 29-Sept. 8 . Keira Knightley will be in attendence at the premeire of ‘Atonement’.
