
Askhat Kuchencherekov As 'Asa'
A young man, Asa, travels back to the Kazakh steppe after completing his service in the Russian navy to take a bride and begin a fresh life as a shepherd. Asa is eager to get back to the countryside, where he plans on living a nomadic life along with his sister and her husband. His sister’s husband is also a shepherd, a career that Asa hopes to someday attempt.
However, before that happens, Asa needs to find a bride which is not an easy task on the deserted steppe. Young Tulpan is the daughter of another shepherd family and the obvious choice, even so, she isn’t attracted to Tulpan because of his big ears. Will Tulpan ever become a shepherd, or is he destined to lead the life of a lonely bachelor?
