Here’s the trailer for the fourth installment of the Die Hard franchise. What do we learn from this trailer? There will be:
- car crashes
- a helicopter
- explosions
- a car crashing into a helicopter and exploding
Quite a departure from the original Die Hard, which was all about tension – Bruce Willis sneaking around the hostage filled skyscraper with no shoes on. This looks like a Michael Bay film.
The title and release date are a worry too. Live Free or Die Hard released on July 4th suggests a one-sided red-blooded patriotism fest.
It’s just a teaser trailer though, so let’s hold off passing final judgment until the summer.

Just watched it, looks like the worst movie possibly imagined. Feels like XXX was restrained. God, I feel sick after watching it.

“Quite a departure from the original Die Hard…”
Well, the series has been about tension, true. But this doesn’t really seem like much of a departure. All of these films have had explosions (case in point, the famous scene of Willis strapped to an airline seat, flying into the air as the plane explodes underneath him.) They have had various vehicle oriented crashes (buses, snow mobiles, planes.)
And if they have to make another Die Hard flick (must we?) it would have to be somewhat different in a post-9/11 world. So, there you go.
Will people go see it?
Now there’s the biggest difference between this movie and the first.

The helicopter scene was off the chain. Up until that scene, I thought it was a drama but quickly realized this movie was meant to be a comedy–ridiculously, overflated and totally outrageously unbelievable fake. Totally absurb… I have never seen a movie so grossly unbelievable–it’s damn insult to your intelligence.
