Film adaptations of Disney’s franchises have done quite well at the box office, especially Pirates of the Caribbean, which went on for two sequels. Yet another of its rides could have made it to the silver screen, but it’s not happening.
Bloody Disgusting initially reported that a major movie based on Disneyland’s Tower of Terror ride was in the works. The plan was to follow a group of characters who enter a bizarre world where is nothing is as it seems.
A TV movie based on the ride was released back in 1997; it starred Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst.
A while later, Blue Sky Disney cited sources saying that “it’s not happening” and that “no film is in development at this time.” There you have it: another interesting series shot down.
