Apparently Tobey Maguire’s still stinging over the hugely unpleasant reception that most everybody except Earl Dittman gave Spider Man 3, because it was pretty difficult to get him back to handle the hero role again.  This is what he had to say about it:

“It’s not that I was reluctant,’’ he said. “For me, it’s a big process to decide whether or not to do a role. I have to want to wake up in the morning and feel like I can’t wait to get to work. I’ve got to feel OK about leaving my kids for 12 or 13 hours a day for five months. It’s a big commitment.’’

Uh HUH.  Yeah, right.  Various other expressions of eye-rolling skepticism.  More like you’re not in the mood to be referred to as Emo Spidey again any time soon.  Of course, the problem here is that Tobey Maguire’s schedule isn’t exactly full of offers, or roles, or much of anything else at the moment, so why would he turn down the role?

But I look for him to keep coming back to the well as long as there’s a well to come back to.
