Anything related to Islam these days causes outrages, riots and whatnot across the world. This ranges from newspaper cartoons to music in video games (the most recent), but one movie has so far been released that caused no such outrage. In fact, it was actually applauded by the Muslims for its authenticity and respect for the religion. And now, Hollywood plans on remaking it.
The movie in question is The Messenger of Peace, a remake of the 1977 classic The Message starring Anthony Quinn, which followed Mohammad (the prophet) and his companions during the emergence of the religion. The film showed Mohammad speaking off-camera and never directly shown in accordance with Muslim conventions forbidding his visual depiction.
Producer Oscar Zoghbi, who worked on the original, said that the remake will make use of modern film techniques, but will retain the first film’s core messages. It is currently heading towards production.
