‘The Matrix’ Got RobbedJune 20th, 2007 in Awards, Movies, TV |
The Matrix’ was the most revolutionary film in the last ten years. Of course, the sequels ruined the franchise with a bazaar plot that left fans scratching their heads but the “wow” factor of seeing the movie in 1999 is indisputable. Not putting ‘The Matrix’ on the American film Institute’s list of the top 100 American Films is criminal. If you are going to punish film-makers for making poor sequels they should of snubbed ‘Star Wars’ for making four poor films in a row.
Of course these lists don’t really mean much. They are a good ratings grab for TV and have people talking about movies again (which is a good thing). But leaving a movie like ‘The Matrix’ off the list and including the horrible ‘Titanic ‘, a cop out pick because made teenage girls swoon, is downright criminal. A movie like ‘The Matrix’ comes once a generation and deserved to be recognized.

I agree Frank. I think “Titanic” is the most over rated film ever. What was The Academy thinking when they awarded eleven Oscars to that dog?
