‘The Invaders’ Look to the Stars

July 8th, 2008 in Adventure, Dvd, Sci-Fi, TV, Thriller, classic

“The Invaders” introduced television viewers in 1967 to architect David Vincent (Roy Thinnes) stumbling upon a terrible secret: aliens from a doomed planet are infiltrating Earth.  I am amazed at how the story line is similar to “The X-files.”

“The Invaders” came to television before “The X-Files.” It combined paranoid science fiction and drama thriller.

Watching some of the 17 episodes of the first season on the five disc set, I can’t help but admire producer Quinn Martin (”The Fugitive”) special effects and story line with multiple-scenes per episode shot in rural southern California - I am only guessing the location.

The five disc set also includes the 60-minute version of “The Invaders” never before seen, Roy Thinnes introducing each episode - he’s still handsome -, another commentary and more.

I mention, again, there are some similarities in comparing “The X-files” to “The Invaders,” such as David Vincent almost proving the aliens exist but they just evade the evidence.

If you like science fiction, what if, type stories, you need to have this set in your library.
