AAAAAAUGH.

Go ahead, folks, join in with me.  You might as well.  It’s a sad day for everyone who thought they might get a chance to see the Hobbit movie come out sometime soon, especially now that the lawsuits were all resolved and everything.

So what’s the holdup THIS time, you ask?  Well, Peter Jackson wasn’t being terribly clear on that score, but the word is that shooting won’t even start until summer of 2010.

Not that it really matters, though–it’s not like people will refuse to see this because it took forever to finally  come out.  Some people will even likely develop a kind of weird cognitive dissonance that they believe it’s better BECAUSE Jackson took his time with the whole thing.

That’s kind of unfair, I know–not even I’m expecting this to be a bad movie–but still, the three year wait IS a bit galling, even for me.
