The quirky 2004 children’s graphic-novel series The Ghouly Boys is being transferred to the big-screen, reports The Hollywood Reporter, who adds that Sam Esmail has been hired to adapt it for Mandate Pictures.

The comics told the story of young monster outcasts and their efforts to fit in the world. It followed two friends – a young boy looking to contact his dead father and a zombie seeking a way to come back to life – who set off on an adventure.

The film is being produced by Lindsay Doran.
