The Hollywood remake machine has got a new victim: the 3D remake of ‘80s cult classic The Gate. It has been handed over to actor-turned director Alex Winter (Bill and Ted, Lost Boys).
Originally released back in 1987, the film starred Stephen Dorff and followed three young children who accidentally release a horde of demons from a hole in their suburban neighborhood. What follows is the clichéd fight between good and evil as the kids struggle to overcome the demons.
The project is being financed by Frankfurt’s HessenInvestFilm and Stuttgart-based MFG Baden-Wurttemberg. These studios’ recent credits include Roland Emmerich’s 2012 and James McTeigue’s Ninja Assassin.
