I think you’ve all completely missed the mark with this film.

The whole point of Dylan Thomas’ character, played brilliatly by Matt Rhys as far as I’m concerned, is that despite his brilliance he wasn’t entirely likeable. We are constantly reminded of his wonderful poetry throughout to juxtapose his character.

Everyone needs to forget about Atonement (yes, Kiera Knightly was in that too so it doesn’t automatically make it a suitable comparison for The Edge of Love) The film never claims to chart Dylan Thomas’ life the blurb simply states it shows his character THROUGH Kaitlin & Vera.

You are so dead on in your review. I went hoping to see the brilliance of one of my favorite poets on the big screen and left with my eye sockets aching from doing so much eye rolling.

This sounds incredibly dull. Your tip to filmmakers is well-placed – almost everyone making a movie could benefit from stopping to figure out if the story is interesting.

The key is to make a biopic a story, a film. El Cid, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Story of Louis Pastuer with the great Paul Muni are a few biopics worth watching.
