The Black Hole Remake Well Underway

bob-black-holeWay back in the deep dark depths of 1979, Disney released a movie that didn’t go over well.

It was called The Black Hole, and it was generally hated by most everyone.  The critics roundly condemned it, audiences stayed well away, and eventually the movie just sort of collapsed into a sludge of obscurity.

And frankly, it was a crying shame.  I saw that one, and though everyone was right about it, it didn’t really deserve half the lambasting it got, at least as far as I was concerned.  It was a movie that was way ahead of its time, it came out far too soon.  The technology wasn’t in place to make the best of what the script could have offered.

But with a remake more than likely on the way, well…maybe now the tech will match the script. Disney will get another chance to improve a dropped ball. And that’s a development we all should be looking forward to.
