According to the Toronto Sun newspaper, studios deliberately kept the 30 movies below from film Canadian critics in 2006.
Usually if a studio thinks a movie will take a savage beating (especially from those notoriously tough Canadian critics!) they’ll keep it under wraps for as long as possible to prevent harsh reviews sabotaging the opening weekend’s box office.
These movies tend to be celluloid dog poop (this means you Snakes On A Plane) but sometimes they’re surprisingly OK (say Crank for example) which suggests studios don’t really know what to hide and what to show. Some movies - like Underworld: Evolution - you just know they’re bad without even seeing them.
