Film School Rejects wrote an outstanding review of this very, very dark comedy that stars Robin Williams. I am not sure this film is to my liking because it is very, very dark, but I am sure World’s Greatest Dad will find an audience. The trailer doesn’t say much about the story. Probably, that is good because of an unthinkable act done by the dad, Robin Williams, that pulls me out of the movie line.

I heard about the plot for World’s Greatest Dad but didn’t believe a plot like that is possible. The story is about a high school poetry teacher named Lance, Robin Williams, whose son dies in a freak masturbation accident. Lance fakes the death as a suicide with a note to spare family shame. The note gets published without Lance’s permission and ends up being a sensation. Thus, reignites Lance’s writing career by penning a personal journal he claims was written by his son.
The plot must be for real because filming began filming today in Seattle.
Also starring in Greatest is Alexis Gilmore who plays Claire, a teacher having an affair with Lance.

Bob Goldthwait penned the script and is directing the project.
It’s going to be interesting trying to market this movie.
