scarlett-johansson-n-woody-allen-05 Word comes from Screen Daily that Woody Allen is set to make a new film in Paris. This comes as a result of this three-picture deal with Spanish company Mediapro which was signed in the wake of their great success with Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona last year.

The Paris project will actually be his second film out of the three. The first of the three is an untitled London project that it set to shoot later this year with Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderas attached to star. It is set for release next summer.

As for the Paris project, Mediapro noted that Allen is yet to turn in the script and actors haven’t been cast yet. It will be a romantic film, though, and will start shooting sometime next year.

carlabruni460 It appears that Woody Allen is interested in France’s first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, and going by the picture in this post, I’m not surprised. Reuters reports that the famed director might use Bruni-Sarkozy in his next film, though he’s yet to ask her.

“I’m sure she would be wonderful,” said Allen. “She’s got charisma, she’s already acted so she’s not unknown to an audience. There are a lot of ways I could use her though I don’t have a story for her at the moment. But I’ll certainly talk to her about it and I’ll ask her if she’s interested.”

Bruni-Sarkozy was a renowned fashion model before she was married to French President Sarkozy.

Whatever Works Poster and Trailer

What do you get when you pair a couple of popular comedians on the big screen? Well considering you bring together Woody Allen and Larry David, expect a lot of laughs for their coming film “Whatever Works”. By the look of the poster and trailer for Allen’s newest romantic comedy entitled Whatever Works, it looks like this movie is perfect for the Allen and David tandem.

Whatever Works sees the veteran writer/director Woody Allen return to his traditional New York setting after being off making movies in such places as the UK (with the dreadfully overrated Match Point) and Spain (with the delightful Vicky Cristina Barcelona). The film tells the story of:

Eccentric, upper class New Yorker Boris Yellnikoff (Larry David) who abandons his comfortable lifestyle in favor of leading a more bohemian existence. After meeting a young Southern girl and her family, he discovers that life among the nonconformists isn’t quite as carefree as he’d envisioned it to be.

Whatever Works is scheduled to be released on June 19th this year in the US. No UK release date has been set as of yet.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a refreshing film this summer compared to what has been hitting the big screens. Sure the superheros and the laughable films are entertaining. Now, let’s sit back and watch a true pro make a simple, complex and funny film sans all the computer generated mumbo jumbo.
