The movie poster is wicked.  Scissors with passionate profiles as the handles sets the emotion for the story.  I believe that’s blood coming from the center of the scissors.

Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg star in Lars von Trier’s Antichrist. The story is about a grieving couple who retreat to ‘Eden’, their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse.

I have a feeling that people will either really like this movie or really hate it.

dafoe_willemWalt Disney Pictures signed Willem Dafoe to star with Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins in John Carter of Mars, the fantasy epic to be directed by Wall-E director Andrew Stanton, is based on “A Princess of Mars.”

Dafoe gets to play the role of Tars Tarkas, a fierce green Martian warrior, who’s bizarre among his savage race because he has the ability to love. Tars forms an alliance with John Carter played by Kitsch. Carter is a damaged Civil War vet who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars.  Collins plays the Princess of Mars.

Tars fights battles alongside Carter through the entire series of Edgar Rice Burroughs books, so he will be in all the sequels.

Sevigny, Dafoe Join My Son

And in more thriller news, Chloe Sevigny, Michael Shannon and Willem Dafoe have joined Wener Herzog’s upcoming film My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done.

The psychological horror thriller is loosely based on a true story, centering on a man who apparently acts out some play in his mind and ends up killing his mother with a sword.

Herzog is currently busy with production on the Nicolas Cage-led remake of Bad Lieutenant.

Dafoe in Horror Film

I don’t believe we have seen much of Willem Dafoe since Spiderman 2/3. It looks like he’s going to star with Charlotte Gainsbourg in Antichrist to be directed by Lars von Trier.

The story is a psychological thriller that evolves into a horror film – yikes! Dafoe and Gainsbourg play a couple who retreat to an isolated cabin in the woods following the death of their child.

Production begins this month in Germany
