Alice Braga, Mickey Rourke and Vincent Cassel are set to star in the steamy movie 11 Minutes. The movie is based on Paulo Coehlo’s novel which will be directed by Hany Abu-Assad.
Braga plays a inexperienced girl who is betrayed by her first lover and swears off romance. She becomes a high-priced call girl who works at an upscale gentlemen’s club in Geneva. Cassel plays a music executive who gets her hooked on S&M. Rourke plays the club owner.
Italian heartthrob Riccardo Scamarcio is negotiating to round out the cast.
Senator Entertainment, the company that will release its first film, Fireflies in the Garden, starring Julia Roberts and Ryan Reynolds in November, has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Public Enemy No. 1. Enemy is a two part biopic about infamous French criminal, Jacques Mesrine, played by Vincent Cassel. The dual production is budgeted for $80 million, one of the largest of its kind yet.
Reportedly Cassel spent seven years promoting the film and plainly got the part.
The story is about Merine returns from fighting in Algeria in the late ‘50s to transform to “the man of a thousand faces.” As a disguise artist, he robbed, kidnapped, murdered and screwed his way around Canada, the U.S. and France during the ‘60s and ‘70s, and then the police gunned him down just outside Paris.
Sounds like a strong story for two films.
