Well…here we go. Rumors about the next Transformers movie have emerged, and anything short of Michael Bay actually putting a proton cannon in his own mouth and tabbing the firing stud will be something of a disappointment.
But you’ve got to admit, the guy has made thinking big into an art form. Long term Trans fans may not be wondering, but everyone else might wonder what’s next? The answer may already have been given away via the Transformers 2 DVD, found on an Easter egg.
Here, let’s have some fun. Guess the new secret huge feature for Transformers 3!
A. For some reason, QUINTESSONS! Finally!
B. Megatron will finally make the big move to Galvatron.
C. Out of nowhere, UNICRON!!
The answer, of course, is C. Michael Bay must have some kind of mental disorder in which he must do everything bigger and louder than he did it before, and when he can no longer do bigger and louder, he must move on to something else.
Although I did enjoy Unicron, I’d still personally love to see those fabulously schizophrenic Quintessons get a piece of the action somewhere. Why, I might even look forward to a Michael Bay movie if that were so!
The American science fiction action film released on June 19, 2009 in the United Kingdom and June 24, 2009 in North America, and will release on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 20, 2009.
It is the sequel to 2007’s Transformers and the second film in the live action Transformers series. Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg return respectively as director and executive producer, while Shia LaBeouf reprises the role of Sam Witwicky, the human caught in the war between Autobots and Decepticons.
The film introduces many more robots and the scope has been expanded to numerous countries, most notably France, Jordan and Egypt. The plot revolves around Sam, who has been having visions of Cybertronian symbols, getting hunted by the evil Decepticons under the orders of their long-trapped leader, The Fallen. The Fallen seeks to get revenge on Earth by finding and activating a machine that would provide the Decepticons with an energon source, destroying all life on the planet in the process.
If you spelled it E-H-R-E-N-space-K-R-U-G-E-R, then I knew that you could.
Kruger’s Hollywood resume is almost as nighmarish as the serial slasher who shares his name. He’s been responsible for such low-rent fare as The Skeleton Key and Scream 3. Though he did have a little something to do with Blood and Chocolate, it’s not much reason to hold out hope. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
But now, Kruger’s going to be sole writer for the Transformers 3 script, as the other two writers of Transformers 2 have bugged out. Considering his track record thus far, it’s not boding real what you’d call well for the third installment of the gigantic cash cow of a series.
Scuse me while I go looking for some comfort whiskey, while I count down the days until the release of this next grotesquerie on our childhoods when Transformers 3 comes out in 2011.
Empire Magazine posted the final movie poster for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.’ It’s dazzling and overpowering. Run Shia! Run Megan! There is a giant transformer behind you!!
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen just release a new trailer in the movie theaters. I like this trailer because it shows the story, which appears much better than the last Transformers movie. There’s the International stage and theory of the pyramids. I like Kevin Dunn who plays Shia’s dad. I worked with him once on a Joe Dante film, he was great in Vicky Cristina Barcelona and he is a true professional.
Optimus Prime teams up with the U.S. military to battle the evil Decepticons, who have invaded Earth to capture Sam. Sam learned a number of secrets about the origins of the Transformers and their ancient history – information, it turns out, is worth going to war.
There apparently has been quite a bit of misinformation making its rounds on the internet about Transformers 2, and the film’s co-writer Roberto Orci addressed some of them on TFW2005.
Orci stated that “Soundwave” won’t be a pick-up truck, despite what rumors have been pointing to, but quite interestingly doesn’t rule out the bot as being a truck of some kind. He also stated that the “Fallen” in the title may be a robot, or just a synonym for the defeated side, keeping it quite ambiguous. There will also be more fight scenes this time around – they will also be longer than before. Finally, he noted that we might see a Decepticon who is loyal to Megatron’s cause, though don’t expect it to be “Tidal Wave”, as the writers couldn’t find any way to integrate him in the story.
Dubbed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel hits theaters June 26, 2009.
Following the trend set by The Dark Knight, the next Michael Bay film will see at least three action setpieces filmed using IMAX cameras.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will continue the story from the original, featuring even more action and ridiculously awesome robot action next Summer.
Various other directors have expressed interest in shooting IMAX scenes, including Jon Favreau (Iron Man 2) and D.J. Caruso (Y: The Last Man).
