Well, folks…bad news. Terrible news in point of fact.
Apparently, Herr Doktor Uwe Boll hasn’t had enough of destroying video game to movie translations yet, because he’s somehow gotten access to the Far Cry series.
A trailer has emerged, and man, is it a doozy. It has all the hallmarks of a Herr Doktor film–halfassed plot, weak dialogue, and lots of explosions. The trailer doesn’t look too bad, but I’ve seen enough decent trailers built out of horrendous movies. Naturally I’ll reserve judgment until the actual product emerges, but you’ll excuse my skepticism.
This IS, after all, Herr Doktor we’re talking about here. Seriously, does the guy have any GOOD movies to his credit? Sure, Postal was a riot but even that was still pretty weak. It’s hard to imagine a Boll movie going over well at all.
And of course, we have the trailer right here for you, so settle in and enjoy this newest wreckage in the making.
I’ve got to give a hand to Disney for making the firstPrince of Persia trailer very compelling while letting us in on the story. Usually, first trailers try to tease us, so we are asking for more information about the story and that can be not so fun.
Disney’s first trailer of Prince of Persia tells us what the story is about and we get a flavor of the tongue and cheek between the prince and the princess, although I am not quite sure what Ben Kingsley’s role is, accept he is the bad guy. Is he also interested in the princess or does he just want the dagger?
Don’t let the French scare you away from A Prophet trailer. The visuals are awesome and draw the viewer into the story. Un Prophete or A Prophetin English is directed by French filmmaker Jacques Audiard (See How They Fall, A Self-Made Hero, Read My Lips). The original screenplaywas written by Abdel Raouf Dafri and Nicolas Peufaillit. The revised screenplay is by Audiard and Thomas Bidegain. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for distribution. A Prophet limited release date is set for February 12th, 2010.
It might surprise you to know that both Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwartzenegger will be back to take on the action movie world in 2010’s The Expendables. It might be especially surprising since, at last report, California was one bus token away from complete fiscal Armageddon, so what is the governor doing running around in movies?
But anyway! A trailer was successfully bootlegged out of Venice for The Expendables, and we’ve got it directly below thanks to the magic of YouTube.
If you think it looks a lot like every other movie Stallone was ever in, then you’re probably not too far off. Except, of course, this one has Jason Statham. And Jason Statham is pretty much always awesome.
The teaser trailer, meanwhile, is of relatively poor quality but such is the way that all bootlegs pretty much go. You will, however, get to see how very cookie-cutter this action flick will be in advance, so you’ll know in advance if you want to see it. Frankly, I’m probably in because I enjoy this kind of mindless eye-candy. And somewhere, an entire studio hopes against hope that you will be too.
Okay, I think I may have seen one of the creepiest horror movie trailers in quite some time–it’s called Paranormal Activity, and it’s been on the fence as to whether or not it’s been coming out for literally years now.
But the decision seems to have been made–there will be no remake, it’s coming out as-is, and it’s coming to theatres September 25th. I only hope it comes to a theatre near me because this is the CREEPIEST thing ever.
At least based on a true story, this is about a young couple who believes their house is haunted. To that end, they set up a slew of video cameras around the house and start taping things. What they find will terrify them.
And it’ll terrify you too–the trailer is directly below. I’m definitely looking forward to this one, folks; it’s like what the Blair Witch Project would have been if it hadn’t been a complete pile of suck instead. I only hope I can manage to find it playing somewhere nearby.
You know, sometimes strange things happen as a part of this operation, and there are few more enjoyable times for me than passing them on to you.
Only recently, a new trailer emerged for the upcoming direct to video release of Twilight in Forks, or essentially, the Twilight documentary.
Yes, you read that right–a documentary, about TWILIGHT.
See, what you may not know is that, up in the wilds of Washington, there really is a small logging town called Forks, and it’s the same town Twilight is set in. If you were to go there, you’ll find out in the documentary, and go to a store called Forks Outfitters, you’ll actually MEET BELLA.
Well, not the movie Bella…or even the book Bella. But rather, A Bella. There really is a Bella working at Forks Outfitters. Man, if ever there were a reason for Twifans to go swarming the place, the chance to meet Bella would probably top the list.
Once this gets out, Forks had better prepare for an onslaught of tourists the likes of which it’s never seen before. And I’ve even got the trailer for you below, just one day old. Enjoy!
Over the weekend the first trailer for Michael Cera’s Youth in Revolt debut on AOL. The movie is about a teenage kid who falls in a love with a girl he can’t have. He then decides to go to any lengths to win her heart such as blow up a car and trailer.
Cera plays dual roles, one himself and the other Francois Dillinger. It’s a refreshing turn to watch Cera be another character besides his usual persona, but I still need to see more of the movie to get an idea of what is actually happening. Like, figuring out how and why he got naked.
After two largely awful attempts at comedy (Intolerable Cruelty, The Ladykillers), the Coen Brothers blew away the world of cinema with a potent adaptation of the novel No Country for Old Men, a philosophical glance at the role of violence in our life. They followed that up with a flawed but entertaining madcap comedy, Burn After Reading, and seem to be continuing in mood with their upcoming A Serious Man.
The trailer above is a well-crafted 90 seconds of footage that reveals little about the plot. Most probably because there is not much of a plot to this comedic drama. The story follows Larry Gopnik, an academic living and working in 1960s Minneapolis. After his wife wants to leave him it seems poor Larry is trying to find meaning and understanding in hiw life, which is falling apart around him due to the assistance of an utterly disfunctional family.
It’s interesting to see the Coen brothers make a film that seems particularly unambitious. Indeed, you’d almost risk believing that it’s the most personal film the directing duo have made, dealing with their childhood in Minneapolis and their academic parents. Is this the Coen brothers making a Woody Allen film? It’s hard to tell from the trailer, but the amusing attempt to construct Larry’s problems (being bashed against a wall, the hacking coughs of his apparently uncaring rabbi) into a soundtrack of anxiety works well to transform the concept of a humdrum life into a funny tale.
This is by far the best Blood: The Last Vampire trailer I have seen yet. The dynamics involved are spectacular if not far reaching. The star, Gianna Jun, has become Saya the vampire slayer. The movie has opened in some parts of the world but not in the states yet. I am guessing some time in July or August the film will hit the states.
