Now, this trailer really shows you what this movie is all about, sexy.  The Spirit and his obsession with women, and he’s not bad looking either.  I rather like this trailer. The music adds a lot to it as well. Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson spark it up too.

Because Comic-Con San Diego is coming up in the next couple of weeks, the official website for The Spirit is newly re-vamped in light of the convention. The site has been updated to include information about the exciting schedule of events and activities at Comic Con for The Spirit – including the panel, talent appearances, and exclusive content!

Some of the movie websites have been discussing Frank Miller’s The Spirit footage being screened at Comic-Con in San Diego late July. 

Frank Miller promises to show footage of The Spirit based on, the late comic master, Will Eisner’s comic series.  Even Samuel L. Jackson and Jaime King promise to make an appearance. Both star in Miller’s film.

The special screening of the footage is, of course, to create a buzz about the film, so this Christmas the movie theaters are packed to see The Spirit.

Here are the next two character posters from Frank Miller’s upcoming film adaptation of The Spirit – in theaters Christmas Day 2008! These posters draw attention to the film. I love the style. This time we have Jamie King as Loreli, a murderous French nightclub dancer and Sarah Paulson as Ellen Dolan, the whip-smart girl-next-door.

I was just sent the second character poster from Frank Miller’s upcoming film adaptation of “The Spirit,” which will be in theaters Christmas Day 2008. 

I don’t recognize Scarlett Johansson in this poster, but her character is Silken Floss, a punk secretary and frigid vixen.

First character poster of EVA MENDES AS SAND SAREF from the upcoming film adaptation of Will Eisner’s famed comic book series, THE SPIRIT, is here.  SAND SAREF is a jewel thief with dangerous curves – The Spirit’s love of his life turned bad.  Will he save her or will she kill him?  I can’t wait to find out.

Comic-Con Magazine has debuted a new photo of Samuel L. Jackson as The Octopus in Frank Miller’s The Spirit!

This movie is looking to be a sure winner at the box office this Christmas.

The nationwide release of comic adaptation “The Spirit” — written and directed by Frank Miller – has been moved to Dec. 25.

The film, based on the comic book series created by the late Will Eisner, was formerly schedule to open Jan. 16, 2009.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, of the move, Lionsgate president of theatrical films Tom Ortenberg said: “Comic-Con fans (in New York in March) resoundingly confirmed what we felt in our bones about ‘The Spirit’: this is a great film and an irresistible piece of entertainment. … For all of us, it was an easy decision.”

“The Spirit” stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, Stana Katic, Dan Lauria, Jaime King, Paz Vega and Louis Lombardi. Odd Lot Entertainment and Lionsgate are production partners.

Anyone who’s into their comic books will be pretty excited about this trailer. Next to Watchmen, The Spirit is the most anticipated comic-book adaptation. Which isn’t surprising considering it’s being written and directed by Frank Miller, a famed comic-book writer, and creator and co-director of Sin City, a film which argubly revolutionised comic-book adaptations.

The trailer was premiered at the New York Comic Con, and uploaded by MTV (who didn’t grant access to international users), and fortunately been placed on Youtube (for the time being). So how does it look? Well, it does look impressive, with it’s black-white-red colour scheme, and moody monologue. The music is an interesting mix of 40’s crime caper and Morricone Western. Yet, it’s also painfully obvious that it owes a lot to Sin City’s visual techniques, as if Miller like Robert Rodriguez’s idea and decided to copy it for his own idea. Yet, the movement feels a little off, especially when The Spirit slides off a roof. It has a video-game feel to it.

Nevertheless, The Spirit still looks tantalising. While the relatively unknown Gabriel Macht plays the eponymous hero, who after a near-death experience decided to stop being a cop and start being a vigilante crime-fighter, the support consists of Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Eva Mendes. The only real down-side is that The Spirit won’t be out until next January.
