The Rum Diary casting news continues with TMCNet reporting that Prison Break and Max Payne star Amaury Nolasco has joined the film.
An adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s novel, the film follows a freelance journalist work for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean.
Nolasco will play Segurra, the son of the biggest cement-plant owner on the island. Other members of the cast include Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart and Amber Heard.
Filming starts this week in Puerto Rico.

The Rum Diary cast grows as the trades report that Michael Rispoli (The Sopranos) has officially joined the film.
Based on the classic novel by Hunter S. Thompson, the book followed Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who finds himself working for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean.
Rispoli is set to play the character of Bob Salas. Other cast members include Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart and Amber Heard.

Empire Online reports that Giovanni Ribisi has joined the cast of Bruce Robinson’s The Rum Diary for Warner Independent Pictures.
The story, based on the classic novel by Hunter S. Thompson, follows the life and events of Paul Kemp, a washed-up journalist who finds himself writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean.
Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Aaron Eckhart and Richard Jenkins also star. Producers include Depp himself, Christi Demobrowski and Graham King.
Shooting will be on location in Puerto Rico starting March 30.
