Tommy Lee Jones wants to direct and co-star in The Lincoln Lawyer that Matthew McConaughey is using as a starring vehicle.  Lincoln Lawyer is based on the 2005 best-seller by Michael Connelly.

The story follows Mickey Haller, a wheeler-dealer Los Angeles lawyer who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car. Haller is content with a career defending garden-variety criminals such as bikers, con artists, drunk drivers and drug dealers. Then he lands the case of a lifetime: defending a Beverly Hills playboy accused of murder. Mickey has his first high-paying client in years – a dream case, perhaps one of his easiest cases ever. Then, a variable comes into play and well…the case isn’t easy anymore and Haller’s life is in danger.  

McConaughey is set to play Haller. It’s unclear what role Jones would play. The playboy character may be too young for Jones. But it depends on the script. John Romano wrote the script.

Mathew McConaughey has joined the cast of upcoming legal thriller The Lincoln Lawyer for Lakeshore Entertainment.

Being adapted from Michael Connolly’s novel, the film will tell the story of a low-level criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller who finds himself representing a wealthy client with ties to a previous murder case Haller handled.

The film is being produced by Scott Steindorff, Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.
