The movie follows a troubled teenager (Miley Cyrus), and her estranged father (Greg Kinnear), as they reconnect with one another through music during a summer in a quiet Southern beach town.
Kelly Preston and Liam Hemsworth also star in the film. The Last Song is Sparks’ first screenplay to be brought to film as well as Julie Anne Robinson’s feature film directorial debut.
I like the feel of the trailer and the acting lookssuperb! You can’t go wrong with Kinnear and Preston.

Miley Cyrus will be in good company with Kelly Preston and Greg Kinnear , who have joined Disney’s The Last Song, the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel. Sparks wrote the script based on the novel specifically as a star vehicle for Cyrus.
Kinnear and Preston play the parents of Cyrus’ character, a rebellious teen sent to spend the summer with her estranged father. He tries to reconnect with her through the one thing they have in common, of course, music.
Julie Anne Robinson is currently directing the movie that opens January 8, 2010.

Moving on from being an expendable, Australian actor Liam Hemsworth has been cast as Miley Cyrus’ love interest in The Last Song for Disney Pictures.
The film is based on Nicholas Sparks’ book; he is writing the film adaptation as well, with Cyrus in mind as the female lead. It tells the story of a rebellious teenager who is forced to spend the summer with the father who left her years earlier. Hemsworth is set to play a member of the cool crowd who Cyrus falls for.
Julie Anne Robinson is directing the film. It starts shooting June 15 in Georgia.

The Hannah Montana star is getting ready to sing The Last Song, as Variety reports that Julie Anne Robinson (Weeds) will make her feature directing debut on the Miley Cyrus-led project.
