JoBlo reports that Sylvester Stallone is after Demolition Man co-star Sandra Bullock to join him in The Expendables, his upcoming action film. Stallone has so far lined up Jason Statham, Jet Li, Forest Whitaker, Randy Couture and Dolph Lundgren for the film which tells the tale of mercenaries on a mission to take down an evil dictator.
Bullock would play a government agent on the hunt for Stallone’s crew. However, her participation in the film is yet to be a “done deal”, but hopefully it should go through.
Sylvester Stallone also stars in the film and will direct it.

Not getting enough press, Sly Stallone’s next film, The Expendables, looks like it may be the biggest action revival ever. Fans of the hyper-masculine fights, gun battles, and homo-erotic subtext of the 80’s and 90’s will all flock to see this flick. Why? Not only is Sly writing and directing, but he’s enlisting the biggest names in action films to join forces. Already the film stars Sly himself, Jason Statham, and Jet Li. And now it seems that Dolph Lundgren, meathead in films like Universal Soldier, Rocky IV, and Masters of the Universe, may be joining. According to Dark Horizons, Stallone himself revealed that he’s on the verge of signing the aged action-man to the flick.
Now, all Sly needs is Mr T, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Segal, with a cameo from Arnie, and every man who grew up in the 80’s will storm the box office to check out this film, with its hilarious premise involving a group of merceneries who load up and attempt to take down a “South American dictator”. Presumably, it’s not by silent protest.

Following word of the movie being announced, Sylvester Stallone told a crowd at this past week’s American Film Market that he has been heavily courting Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker for a role in The Expendables, his next project.
Stallone himself, Jason Statham and Jet Li are all pegged to star in the film about a group of mercenaries on an undercover mission to depose of a Latin American dictator. The Rambo-actor wants Whitaker to play a devious CIA agent involved in the operation.
Shooting for the film is set to begin in February 2009 in Costa Rica and Louisiana.

The film has the characters sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is said to be “expendable”, hired to do jobs no one else will.
Stallone is set to direct the film from his original screenplay. Shooting begins in February 2009 in Costa Rica and Louisiana.
