It appears that Mark Millar’s (Wanted) eight-hour trilogy plans to reboot the Superman franchise won’t be happening. He revealed that not only did the studio shoot down his pitch, but the whole franchise has been stalled.
"Warner’s talked to us and a few other writer/ director teams, but things seem to be in stasis right now,” he said. “As far as I understand, nothing is happening with Superman at the moment and so the director and I are just working on another project.
“If it happens, great. If it doesn’t, no biggie. Kick-Ass taught me that creating your own stuff can be at least as much fun and you don’t have to answer to anyone. It’s the future, baby.”

So much has been said about the upcoming Warner Bros. Animation Green Lantern: First Flight and apparently most DC comic fans are going to love this piece of leaked information on what is in store after the said film. Apparently there is already a film lined up and it is a combination of two DC comic heroes, Batman and Superman. Superman/Batman will be the sixth in the series of direct-to-DVD DC Universe Original Animated Movies that began in 2007 with Superman: Doomsday. Bruce Timm reportedly is executive producer.
The official synopsis appears to follow the source material — the initial arc of the Superman/Batman comic series — pretty closely: “United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his ‘partner in crime’ Batman. Super heroes and super villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite — and recruit super help — to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.”
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is expected to be released this fall.

The Superman Returns sequel has had a lot of problems starting up, and following rumors that director Bryan Singer is no longer involved in the project dashed any hopes of it seeing the light of the day.
But that is not the case. UGO went to the man himself and asked about said rumors. “I am not officially involved in the talk, no,” was his first reply. However, when asked straight up if he is “divorced” from the project at this point, he responded with a resounding “no”.
Singer added: “Well it’s, you know, I have relationships with Warner Brothers and with the character and, and, and, and it’s just the way things work out.”

DC Comics head honcho Paul Levitz talked to Latino Review about upcoming film projects at the company, noting that it all depends on the third Batman movie.
"Everyone is waiting for Nolan to sign on for another Batman, once that happens, the release date for Superman and all other future projects will follow,” he said. The first two movies have done extremely well, with the second movie going on to break box office records.
Levitz also revealed that Brandon Routh may be attached to play the Kryptonian in the Superman Returns sequel. "Last week Brandon Routh has come around the offices in New York and Los Angeles as of late to talk about Superman and what we want to do,” he stated.
He also talked about the Green Lantern and Green Arrow movies, stating that the Lantern movie is moving forward pretty fast.

The Superman franchise had had an excellent revamp with Superman Returns released a couple of years back, but Mark Millar (Wanted) said he was going to pitch his vision of the franchise to Warner Bros. However, it now seems he is taking it one step further: he’s gotten himself a director and producer set up for his vision.
He said that the Superman brand is “toxic after that last movie lost $200 million, but in 2011 we’re hoping to restart it.”
"Sadly I can’t say who the director is,” he teased, “but we may make it official by Christmas.”
"But fingers crossed it could work out, that would be my lifetime’s dream."
The sequel to Returns is said to be in development at the time. No release date is attached to the project.
