Variety reported late this evening that the next directing effort of Steven Soderbergh is to plot a 3-D live-action rock ‘n’ roll musical about Cleopatra.

Soderbergh only you could do it.  You rule in Hollywood.

He is wooing Catherine Zeta-Jones to play the Egyptian queen and Hugh Jackman to play her lover, Marc Antony.

Guided by Voices wrote the music and the script is by James Greer, a former bass player for the band and an author.

Soderbergh definitely has been creating on extremely different projects, this one is his first full-blown musical.

Soderbergh has a lot of balls in the air right now with the release the Benicio Del Toro starrer Che and wrapped Matt Damon starrer The Informant. He is also preparing a Liberace film at Warner Bros., with Michael Douglas attached to play the entertainer and Damon to play his companion, who sued him for palimony.

Prior to starting on Cleo, Soderbergh is set to direct The Girlfriend Experience, with porn star Sasha Grey to play a $10,000-a-night call girl.

XXX flicks star Sasha Grey has been casted in Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh upcoming feature, The Girlfriend Experience.

The low-budget drama, currently shooting in Gotham, accounts the life of a high-price call girl. The film was written by Ocean’s 13 scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien.

According for Variety, the 20-year-old Grey entered the adult movie business biz just after her 18th birthday and has appeared in scores of XXX flicks. In January she became the youngest recipient of AVN’s Female Performer of the Year award.

Germany launched an official website for Steve Soderbergh’s Che – titled Che El Argentino. The first installment of a four-hour Che Guevara bio-picture trailer is now available to view. The trailer is in Spanish, but you’ll get an excellent feel for the movie, massive and dynamic.

Steven Soderbergh’s two films Che bio and Clint Eastwood’s”The Changeling” look like crowd and judges favorites at 61st Cannes Film Festival, meaning the U.S. has a contention for the Palme d’Or.
