A rumor had been making the rounds on the Internet for the last couple of days that Dimension Films had let the film rights to Sin City 2 expire.
It was also suggested that the movie would be financed by a private equity group and that an announcement would be expected soon.
The story has been debunked by MTV today, who carries an official statement from Weinstein’s attorney Bert Fields: “TWC’s rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been. Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash.”
But it still doesn’t answer the vital question: when do we get to see it in theaters?

The Sin City sequel has been a long time coming, but just how long do we fans have to wait? IGN UK talked to The Spirit writer/director Frank Miller, who said that he is ready to team up with Robert Rodriguez again for Sin City 2.
“Sin City 2 is written,” he said. “It’s mainly a matter of working out the details of the production. I’m hoping to do it with Robert Rodriguez again in the same circumstances that we did the first one, and we could be shooting as soon as April.”
So there you have it! Let the countdowns begin. And if you have nothing to do in the meantime, go check out those Sin City graphic novels. They are actually pretty good.

Remember the big, ugly brute that could bust doors, smash policemen and have sex with an insanely hot girl – all at the same time, mind you – from Sin City? Ya, that was Mickey Rourke, who may be about to get his career resuscitated courtesy of The Wrestler, who talked about his role as Marv in the upcoming Sin City sequel.
Speaking to MTV News, Rourke insinuates that his time was wasted with the role of Marv in the original, but that re-teaming with Robert Rodriguez is enough of a motivating factor to get back into the film’s gritty world.
“I have a lot of respect for Robert Rodriguez,” he said. “It scares the piss out of me to sit in make-up for three hours [but] if the role is written the right way, I would do it because it was a good experience.”
As for wasting his time, Rourke simply states that he wants to “work with interesting directors” and that he is going to “do a lot of work because of the time [he] wasted.”
What do you guys think? Did Rourke really waste his time as Marv? Personally, I don’t think anyone else could don the role as well as he did.
