Scarlett Johansson movies range from comedy to drama, but she is also a successful recording artist. That is why acclaimed singer and song writer Pete Yorn contacted Johansson with the idea to record a duets album in the spirit of Serge Gainsbourg’s 1960s recordings with Brigitte Bardot. The first Iron Man gave Robert Downey Jr. back his stardom and now the superhero franchise is readying to return to the big screen on May 7, 2010. Iron Man will battle new villain Mickey Rourke, get to know Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow. Downey told Entertainment Weekly that he knows the movie isn’t an underdog this time around. “There are a lot more invisible eyes on us now,” he says.
I recommend you go to Entertainment Weekly’s website and view the whole cover story with exclusive photos. The story includes details about Black Widow fighting over Tony with Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow).
Following Mickey Rourke’s casting, the trades are reporting that Scarlett Johansson has gotten the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2.
The role was originally offered to Emily Blunt, but with Fox exercising its option to get the actress in Gulliver’s Travels, Johansson was chosen for the role.
Johansson had previously tested for the role, but was not offered it.
Entertainment Weekly reports on a rumor that Scarlett Johansson is in discussions with Marvel Studios to replace Emily Blunt in the upcoming Iron Man sequel.
She would take on the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow. Blunt, who was initially attached, may not star due to her commitment to 20th Century Fox’s Gulliver’s Travels.
The site’s sources say Johansson has already met with the filmmakers and is interested in the role, though it all depends on Blunt’s schedule as her agents are trying to get both films into her itinerary.
In this humorous love story, the vibrant Spanish city of Barcelona becomes a place of passion – following two young American women who are seduced by a local artist. The unusual circumstance, however, is instantly complicated when his fiery ex-wife makes her way back into his life and interferes with his new relationships.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona is another cinematic gem from Oscar winning writer and director, Woody Allen. The film highlights Golden Globe nominated performances from Oscar winner Javier Bardem, (No Country For Old Men), Oscar nominee Penelope Cruz (Volver) and Rebecca Hall (The Prestige). The fantastic cast is also rounded out by co-stars Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), a four-time Golden Globe nominee, and Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson (Pieces of April).
Now, this trailer really shows you what this movie is all about, sexy. The Spirit and his obsession with women, and he’s not bad looking either. I rather like this trailer. The music adds a lot to it as well. Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson spark it up too.
The studio behind the excellent TMNT CG film, Imagi Studios, is back again with Astro Boy, which will be shown at the upcoming Anime Expo. A special edition t-shirt will be distributed to anime fans on a limited basis at the show which is being held July 3-6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The movie is set for release sometime next year. It will feature the voices of Nicolas Cage, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Nighy and Eugene Levy, among others. It is based on the classic manga series created back in the early 1950s. Focusing on a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist, the series had the titular character embark on a jounry in search of adventure in a world of robot gladiators.
I was just sent the second character poster from Frank Miller’s upcoming film adaptation of “The Spirit,” which will be in theaters Christmas Day 2008.
I don’t recognize Scarlett Johansson in this poster, but her character is Silken Floss, a punk secretary and frigid vixen.

Anyone who’s into their comic books will be pretty excited about this trailer. Next to Watchmen, The Spirit is the most anticipated comic-book adaptation. Which isn’t surprising considering it’s being written and directed by Frank Miller, a famed comic-book writer, and creator and co-director of Sin City, a film which argubly revolutionised comic-book adaptations.
The trailer was premiered at the New York Comic Con, and uploaded by MTV (who didn’t grant access to international users), and fortunately been placed on Youtube (for the time being). So how does it look? Well, it does look impressive, with it’s black-white-red colour scheme, and moody monologue. The music is an interesting mix of 40’s crime caper and Morricone Western. Yet, it’s also painfully obvious that it owes a lot to Sin City’s visual techniques, as if Miller like Robert Rodriguez’s idea and decided to copy it for his own idea. Yet, the movement feels a little off, especially when The Spirit slides off a roof. It has a video-game feel to it.
Nevertheless, The Spirit still looks tantalising. While the relatively unknown Gabriel Macht plays the eponymous hero, who after a near-death experience decided to stop being a cop and start being a vigilante crime-fighter, the support consists of Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Eva Mendes. The only real down-side is that The Spirit won’t be out until next January.
