The executives at HBO have their heads so far stuck up their rear ends that they could not see the swimming-pool-full-of-money potential of a Preacher series. I mean come on: vampires, assassins, God and tons of awesome characters in one place? Really, HBO? However, the producers are now working on getting a movie made, and ComingSoon talked to director Sam Mendes about how the adaptation is going along. He is set to direct from a script by John August.
Mendes is very hopeful of August’s material, noting it to be “incredible”. As for cramming the whole series into a movie, he said that they wouldn’t dare do that, saying that “it wouldn’t do justice of it… there’s so much wonderful stuff that I wouldn’t know what to leave out.”
Hopefully HBO will come to their senses and sanction a series. Now that would be pure awesomeness.
Watching this film clip of Sam Mendes’ Away We Go illustrates his directorship in film. The subtle and yet poignant moments creates a full picture of the story, the shortcomings of the innocent in a cerebral manner.
Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty) from an original screenplay by Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida, this funny and heartfelt film follows the journey of an expectant couple (John Krasinski ["The Office'] and Maya Rudolph ["Saturday Night Live']), as they travel the U.S. in search of the perfect place to put down roots and raise their family. Along the way, they have misadventures and find fresh connections with an assortment of relatives and old friends who just might help them discover “home” on their own terms for the first time. The movie features the music of Alexi Murdoch.

Recent reports may have suggested that a Preacher movie is in the making and is coming out quite soon, but that isn’t what is happening, says Sam Mendes.
Speaking to Empire Online, Mendes revealed that development on the film is only in its very early stages, noting that he’s “gotta find a script… I’ve just got to get it written.”
The controversial Garth Ennis-written comic book series followed the actions of a superpowered preacher teamed up with his assassin girlfriend and an Irish vampire in the search of God.
The series was originally being prepped as a HBO series, but that fell through. Hopefully the movie will come through, because Preacher will be one hell of an experience to watch on the big screen.
Directed by Sam Mendes Revolutionary Road brings Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet back together again in a more realistic approach to matrimony and being true to your dreams.
A favorite actress of mine, Toni Collette, is set to star with John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph in Sam Mendes’ upcoming relationship comedy.Collette plays a college professor and close family friend of a couple (Krasinski and Rudolph) canvasing the country to find the best place to raise their unborn child. She’s convinced that their kid will end up dysfunctional no matter where it’s raised, according to Hollywood Reporter.Cheryl Hines also will appear in the untitled feature, which is set to begin filming this month in Connecticut.
