The trades report that Angels & Demons is both Ron Howard’s and Tom Hank’s second highest opening day compared to The Da Vinci Code that scored $28 million.

I was enthralled with the book,”Angel & Demons.” It was a real page turner for me.  The Illuminati and Galliao aspect of the story interested me the most.

I am very excited about Ron Howard and Tom Hanks bringing  the book to the big screen with Ewan McGregor also starring.

This behind-the-scenes featurette about the Illuminati makes me want to see the movie even more.  The movie opens May 15, 2009.

DGA Nominees Announced

The Directors Guild of America picked their five leading awards contenders by nominating Danny Boyle (”Slumdog Millionaire”), David Fincher (”The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), Ron Howard (”Frost/Nixon”), Christopher Nolan (”The Dark Knight”) and Gus Van Sant (”Milk”).

According to Variety, Boyle is the lone DGA newbie of the group, with the remainder having been nominated for features or, in the case of Fincher, commercials.

Howard has won twice, for “A Beautiful Mind” (2001) and “Apollo 13″ (1995), and was also nominated for “Cocoon” (1985). Nolan and Van Sant each previously scored a single mention, for “Memento” (2001) and “Good Will Hunting” (1997), respectively.

Taylor Hackford announced the winners at guild headquarters Thursday morning, filling in for DGA topper Michael Apted, who was on set. Hackford saluted the diverse films in the group, noting it was a “nice mix of small films and big films.”

Anyone who has read the book “Angels & Demons” knows how powerful this story comes across as it takes place inside the Vatican. We are fortunate to have Ron Howard and Tom Hanks join talents, once again, to bring you Robert Landon from The Da Vinci Code in Imagine’s Angels & Demons.

We are viewing only the teaser trailer, but the camera work and the dark lighting tells us what to expect when the film opens May 2009. Angels & Demons also stars Ayelet Zurer (Munich) and Ewan McGregor (Star Wars prequels).

The teaser poster for Angels & Demons is very simple but clearly shows a dark side to the story.

Adapted from Dan Brown’s book of the same title which her  wrote before the “Da Vinci Code,” is a much better story with the same lead character Robert Langdon.

The film is directed by Ron Howard who is very busy with the soon-to-be-released Frost/Nixon, which is based on a play about the televised interview Nixon did with Frost after resigning from the Office of the President.

Frost/Nixon, director Ron Howard’s adaptation of the play about the historic 1977 televised interview between Richard Nixon (Frank Langella) and journalist David Frost (The Queen’s Michael Sheen), could bring the holiday season with drama and speculation of award-winning two stars. Entertainment Weekly supplied the exclusive online unveiling of the film’s poster. (Frost/Nixon opens in some locations on Dec. 5, and nationwide on Dec. 25.)

Ron Howard’s Frost/Nixon trailer is available online right now.  There is indication that it won’t last long for some reason. So if you want to see it go check it out now. Michael Sheen is great as Frost.  I saw him in The Deal and The Queen he was extraordinary.  Frank Langella is startling as Nixon.
