Has Robert Rodriguez lost his mind? Even I’m beginning to wonder and you know that cinematic weirdness is my bread and butter.
So it was just a couple days ago when I filled you in on the startling addition of Lindsay Lohan to the cast of Machete. Well, I just got an updated cast list, and frankly, I’m just baffled. Take a look at this list and tell me if you see ANYTHING wrong here: Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey.
For those of you wondering, no, I never believed I’d live to see the day when Robert De Niro shared the screen with Lindsay Lohan. Or Steven Seagal. And after the slow painful death of Nash Bridges I NEVER believed I’d see Cheech and Don together again.
Don’t even get me started on my puzzlement at the sudden reappearance of Jeff Fahey, either. Guy’s been doing TV and one-shots since 2007–and this is his first feature in nigh on three years.
I’ve got to admit, if Machete didn’t have my interest before (which it did, but only in a limited sort of way) it definitely does now. I am all locked into this sucker now and eagerly await its reappearance.
Tired of killing zombies and monsters with machetes and telekinesis, Milla Jovovich is set to join Robert de Niro and Ed Norton on the cast of Stone, an upcoming thriller being developed by Nu Image.
She will play the wife of a convicted arsonist (Norton) who sets off on a cat-and-mouse game with his parole office (de Niro).
John Curran is directing from a script by Angus Maclachlan. Filming is already underway at Michigan.
Now this is a dynamic combination Robert De Niro and Edward Norton . Both are starring together in the independent poignant thriller Stone with director John Curran.
The story follows a correctional officer (De Niro) who is seduced by the wife of a convicted arsonist (Norton) up for parole.
I look forward to seeing these two dyamic actors work together, although the story doesn’t seem to bring the De Niro’s or Norton’s characters together. The actress who plays Norton’s wife will have to be a very strong actress. I’d like to see Amy Adams play this part, which might happen because the movie is scripted by Angus MacLachlan who wrote Junebug and nominated Adams for an Oscar.
Stars Robert de Niro and Edward Norton are set to star in Stone, reports Production Weekly.
The film is based on a play by Angus MacLachlan (Junebug) and will have de Niro play a parole office who developers a friendship with a teaching assistant.
The project starts shooting this May; it is being directed by John Curran (The Painted Veil).
The duo have previously teamed on heist thriller The Score.
I Heard You Paint Houses, a book about the mob assassin who many believe was involved in the death of Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa, is set with Martin Scorsese to direct and Robert De Niro to play Frank “the Irishman” Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders.
According to Variety, the movie title refers to mob slang for contract killings, and the resulting blood splatter on walls and floors. Book was written by Charles Brandt, who befriended Sheeran shortly before the latter’s death in 2003. Among the crimes Sheeran confessed to Brandt, according to the 2004 book, was the killing and dismemberment of Hoffa, carried out on orders from mob boss Russell Bufalino.
Edge of Darknessadds Ray Winstone to the cast as the replacement for Robert De Niro. Mel Gibson stars in the drama directed by Martin Campbell.
Filming begin August 18th.
Winstone is looking at playing an agent who cleans up evidence in a murder of a detective’s (Gibson) daughter. The detective wants answers as to why his daughter was killed.
Robert De Niro just arrived on the set of Edge of Darkness this week. Then, he bowed out and left the production.
De Niro planned on playing an operative sent to clean up the evidence in the murder of a young woman. Mel Gibson stars as the victim’s father, a homicide detective for the Boston Police Dept. who find outs about her secret life, a corporate cover-up and government secret plot.
Danny Huston, Shawn Roberts and Bojana Novakovic also star.
The filmmakers plan to shoot around De Niro’s character’s scenes pending a replacement.
Mel Gibson has some company in his thriller Edge of Darkness. Danny Huston, Shawn Roberts and Bojana Novakovic have joined him and Martin Campbell is directing the movie.
GK Films is financing.
Darkness focuses on a veteran cop (Gibson) whose only grown-up child (Novakovic) is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop discovers his daughter’s secret life and uncovers a world of corporate cover-ups and government collusion. Huston takes on the role of a shady businessman while Roberts will play the role of the daughter’s distraught boyfriend.
Robert De Niro is also in the film, cast as a CIA cleaner.
Filming starts later this month on location in Massachusetts.
I am happy to hear that Robert De Niro is closing in on a deal to work with Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness the Martin Campbell-directed feature that is based on Campbell’s 1985 BAFT-winning six-hour BBC miniseries. Filming begins this month in Massachusetts.
Gibson stars as Thomas Craven, a straitlaced homicide detective for the Boston Police Dept. and single father, whose 24-year old daughter is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop supposes he was the target, but his investigation leads in another direction and uncovers his daughter’s secret life, a corporate cover-up and government collusion.
De Niro plays the operative sent to clean up the evidence.
I can’t wait to see these two actors star in the same film – such talent.
Robert De Niro is fantastic in this trailer as is Catherine Keener, Bruce Willis, Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn. What Just Happened is directed by Barry Levinson, one of my favorites.
