Screen Daily reports that young Australian actor Callan McAuliffe has signed on for the lead male role in Flipped, which is being directed by Rob Reiner.
The film is based on the 2001 young-adult novel by Wendelin Van Draanen that tells the story of a pair of antagonistic boy and girl neighbors who eventually share a kiss when they become teenagers.
Madeline Carroll has been cast as the lead girl. Other cast members include Aidan Quinn, Penelope Ann Miller, Anthony Edwards and many more.
Reiner himself co-wrote the screenplay with Andy Scheinman.
