I’ve got to give a hand to Disney for making the first Prince of Persia trailer very compelling while letting us in on the story. Usually, first trailers try to tease us, so we are asking for more information about the story and that can be not so fun.

Disney’s first trailer of Prince of Persia tells us what the story is about and we get a flavor of the tongue and cheek between the prince and the princess, although I am not quite sure what  Ben Kingsley’s role is, accept he is the bad guy.  Is he also interested in the princess or does he just want the dagger?

My daughter loves horses, so when I found this picture at Empire Magazine’s website of the Prince of Persia all wet with Princess Tamina, I got a little carried away with excitement. That is a beautiful horse.  Jake Gyllenhall plays the prince while Gemma Arterton plays the princess.  Don’t they make a nice couple fleeing like that all soaked in water in the arid Middle Eastern sun.

I recommend heading over to Empire Magazine’s website, click on the horse,  because there are more pictures of these two all soaking wet. Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time includes Sir Ben Kingsley as the conniving Nizam and Toby Kebbel and Alfred ‘Doc Ock’ Molina.  Before you get too excited, you’ll have to wait until May 28, 2010 to see the movie.

Vulnerability comes to mind when I see this official production still of Jake Gyllenhaal, playing Prince Dastan in Jerry Bruckheimer’s epic Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, due May 28, 2010.

Gyllenhall is looking pretty fine in his Persian clothes, but as he explains to EW.com it was a chance to get into some serious action. “I’m tired of taking myself so seriously,” says the actor, who found himself sword-fighting, climbing walls, and jumping off of buildings as part of the prince’s quest to find an enchanted dagger and turn back time. “It’s nice when a stuntman turns to you and is like, ‘Actors don’t normally do this.’”

Jerry Bruckheimer talks with ABC about Prince of Persia. To me it’s a treat to see an interview with a producer, like Bruckheimer, because their roles are so different from a director or actor. A good producer sees every aspect of the movie making process.  Bruckheimer is more than a good producer, he’s a legend.

Prince of Persia is supposed to be the action adventure like Pirates of the Caribbean, and if this picture of Jake Gyllenhaal is any indication of how the film will be, then I am the first one there on opening day.

Oh, take a look at Jake Gyllenhall. He is looking good. What a brute. Here he is on the set of his latest movie, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, in Morocco, North Africa.

In the film, Jake plays Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Gemma Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to avert a villainous nobleman from having the power over the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and with it the possessor rules the world.

Variety reports that Disney’s “Prince of Persia” has signed Alfred Molina, who joins Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton and Ben Kingsley in the Mike Newell-directed adaptation of the Ubisoft fantasy action game, now movie.

Molina will play Sheik Amar, who becomes a mentor to the prince.

Shooting is slated to begin in July in the U.K. and Morocco.
