My good friends over at NBC sent me the extended preview of Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince that ran during Sunday’s episode of “Merlin.” The preview has some old footage already seen, but there is also some new stff that will draw you into the story.
The future was looking grim for Heroes, seeing as how ratings have been continuously dropping for the once revered television series. However, the show has found its savior in the form of its network NBC who plans to bring the series back for a fourth season.
This was confirmed by NBC Entertainment President Angela Bromstad who said that the network plans to order 18-20 episodes of the show for the next season. They are also privately discussing setting a series end date allowing the writers time to develop the storylines in such a way that would wrap things up properly. It likely won’t happen next season, though.
Bromstad also said that the show continues to perform well among the core 18-49 demographic; it also does well internationally.
Even though a lot of hype is coming from the media on SAG’s ensemble award to Slumdog Millionaire on Sunday night, we mustn’t let it go unnoticed that they also handed out awards to Sean Penn for playing activist Harvey Milk in Milk and Meryl Streep for her performance as a fiercely certain nun in Doubt.
The late and multi-talented actor Heath Ledger won supporting role as the joker in The Dark Knight and the ever so vibrant, talented Kate Winslet for her appearance as a German woman harboring secrets in The Reader.
As for television it appears to be cookie cutter wins from the Golden Globe with NBC’s “30 Rock” and HBO’s “John Adams” in the comedy series and longform categories, and a top drama series honor for AMC’s “Mad Men.”
Variety reports that Jared Bush’s music-themed drama project Soundtrack is being developed for NBC. The drama series will revolve around a misguided man, who just lost his job and whose ex-girlfriend got engaged to someone else, who finds his life suddenly starts being accompanied by music in his head.
Interestingly, he starts to hear the same iconic song over and over again and has to figure out its significance to make it go away… but then the next track comes along.
“I was trying to find a way to combine TV and music in an organic way,” Bush said. “What we come to realize in the show is this guy has been given an opportunity to start his life over, and this music will help him find a way to become truly happy.”
I have personally seen the pilot episode of the new Knight Rider (2008 TV series) and there’s only one thing I wanna say – it Rocks!!! The car (KITT) was awesome and had me drooling all over for one. Well, I guess now, with this news, I’ll be drooling some more as NBC is ordering four more scripts of the of the show from Universal Media Studios.
This new Knight Rider follows the 1982 TV series of the same title. The series stars Justin Bruening as Mike Traceur, the estranged son of Michael Knight, who in turn becomes the new Knight Rider. The series also stars Deanna Russo as Sarah Graiman, Traceur’s former girlfriend/current love interest. Sarah is daughter of Charles Graiman, played by Bruce Davison, creator of new generation KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand), voiced by Val Kilmer.
On the night before Thanksgiving a new variety show will entertain audiences headed by Rosie O’Donnell on NBC.
This is the first real variety show on prime time television in a long-time. It brings back memories of Carol Burnett, Sonny and Cher, Dean Martin, Ed Sullivan and others.
Rosie opens on eve of Thanksgiving and then will continue the variety format from there.
I think, she’ll do a great job if she keeps it to a simple but fun format like her daytime talk show.
Details are being ironed out as I write this, but Thanksgiving is not to far off. I’m sure she’ll have quite a show with movie stars and awesome talent.
