'The Lucky One'

Nicolas Sparks is one lucky author. He just cut a seven-figure deal with Warner Bros. for the movie rights to “The Lucky One” his latest bestseller.

As most movie goers may recall, Sparks’ The Notebook was a sleeper hit in 2004 for New Line.

“The Lucky One” narrates the story of Logan Thibault, a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq. He assigns his good fortune to a photograph he carried of a woman he never met, and he sets out to meet his lucky charm.

Sparks is one of the few authors to strike such a deal these days. Otherwise, most authors are still waiting for their big-bucks deals when in the past such deals were quickly made and common among bestsellers.

Just as a side note, several other books of Sparks are set for film, including the Lasse Hallstrom-directed Dear John, in production. Sparks is writing a new novel and an accompanying screenplay that is being custom-fit as a star vehicle for Miley Cyrus at Disney.

'Walter the Farting Dog'

20thCentury Fox has snitched a deal with the Jonas Brothers to make their feature starring debut in Walter the Farting Dog. Farting Dog is based on th bestselling series of books by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray.

According to Variety, the film is being adapted by Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen into a family film that will revolve around Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas, as well as their younger brother Frankie.

Film starts shooting next spring.

If you haven’t heard of the Jonas Brothers, then you’ve been on a dessert island with your head in the sand for quite some time.

These brothers are wildly popular through the boy band’s appearances playing music and acting in such Disney Channel programs like Camp Rock. They even hung out with Miley Cyrus on Hanna Montana.  Frankie – known as the bonus Jonas – has also gained a profile appearing with his brothers.

The title character in the “Walter” books is a fat dog with severe flatulence. The brothers play musicians whose parents are asked to care for the dog by an aunt just before she passes away, reports Variety.

While his brothers play music, Frankie and the gaseous hound get involved in a plot that involves liberating a koi fish and thwarting jewel thieves.

And, of course, Fox predicts franchise

Bolt Teaser Poster

boltteaserposterreal /Film carries word that the teaser trailer for Bolt might be attached to Pixar’s WALL-E, which hits screens nationwide next week. Keeping that in mind, the site reports that Disney has just released the first theatrical teaser poster for the movie. The site notes that this implies the inclusion of a teaser trailer before WALL-E.

The project has gone through a re-envisioning, with the first imagining being quite unique and cartoonish to be exact. It was racy and had far more memorable characters than the new tamed down, 3D version. Bolt also stars Miley Cyrus, if that’s any indication of things to come.
