Christopher Nolan’s Inception movie trailer is playing beforeInglorious Basterdsin theaters. It plays like a Hitchcock movie such as Vertigo. Leonardo DiCaprio does, in a way, look like Jimmy Stewart.
I am fascinated. I want to know more about the movie. The trades reported that Nolan said it was going to be part science fiction, but I don’t see that aspect in this trailer. I think I will like it.
Hans Zimmer creates an eerie scene, which I just love, with a feel of mystery. The special effects of the physical universe turning sideways are way cool.
This might be one of the biggest newsy bits we’ve had in quite some time, folks. In fact, given who’s involved and what’s at stake this is a huge development.
The studio, at last report, is planning to move the movie Shutter Island from its original release date until sometime in 2010. The reason given was due to the economy, but whether or not that’s the real case, no one knows.
Here’s the kicker: Shutter Island is a big name for a lot of reasons. The first of which is its lead actor, Leonardo DiCaprio. The second? Its director is none other than the legendary Martin Scorsese. The first ever Martin Scorsese horror movie ever…got delayed a year. Due to the economy.
Can anyone really imagine a Martin Scorsese movie tanking? How about a Leo DiCaprio? Put them both together and this should have spelled box office gold. But why the delay? Perhaps, is there something worse than the economy afoot? Is something seriously wrong with ShutterIsland?
Sadly, we don’t know. But keep it here–you never know what we’ll find tomorrow.
Okay, maybe not. I don’t know at this point, but what I DO know is that Leo DiCaprio’s Appian Way studio is looking to do a “gothic” adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood.
It’s being described as meant to be an acting vehicle for DiCaprio, who I guess just hasn’t been getting enough screen time lately. Now, that does sort of beg a few questions, like, what in the world is he actually going to play? The Big Bad Wolf? The woodsman?
…Grandma?
None of these sounds exactly likely for DiCaprio, and yet, there it is. And for those of you who thought that Tim Burton would be directing it, no. At least, not yet–they don’t even have a director attached to this little wonder. So you know we’ll be keeping an eye on it out here for you, and as soon as any more news breaks on this sucker we’ll be screaming it from the rooftops.
Mostly because this is all just too funny for WORDS.
With the Shutter Island trailer out in the movie theaters and on the Internet, Leonardo DeCaprio is attaching himself to produce and star in an untitled project about the world of online casinos based in Costa Rica.
The untitled project brings together screenwriters Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Rounders, The Girlfriend Experience, Ocean’s Thirteen)..
This isn’t the writer’s first project with DiCaprio. All three are working on a thriller called Beat the Reaper from the novel by Josh Bazell.
Today we see a lot of famous personalities and popular celebrities doing their share of promoting eco-friendliness and going green. If you ask around, the list can go on and on. But apparently there are two people who have stood out above the rest. Their names? Leonardo DiCaprio and Oprah Winfrey.
DiCaprio beat off male counterparts Bono, Brad Pitt and actor Ed Begley Jr. to top the male category in the survey, which was carried out by GreenDaily.com and Bebo.com, to mark Earth Day today.
Winfrey out-shined Angelina Jolie, Hayden Panettiere, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sir Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills to lead the female category.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey was ruled to be the least environmentally friendly star, following reports she regularly flies her personal trainer from the Caribbean to New York to keep her fit.
John Travolta joined her on the hit list, after research found the qualified pilot generates 800 tons of carbon emissions each year flying around the world.
From Anime News Network comes word that Leonardo DiCaprio is considering casting Japan’s SMAP pop group as the main leads in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the 1993 anime film Ninja Scroll.
Additional news comes from the Nikkan Sports newspaper that casting is in progress with DiCaprio expressing his intention to cast Japanese people.
The SMAP is a five-man group formed in 1988, consisting of Masahiro Nakai, Takuya Kimura, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Goro Inagaki and Shingo Katori. They have acted in various films based on manga and anime.
Golden Globe nominee Leonardo DiCaprio is eyeing to star in movie version of “Beat the Reaper.” New Regency is acquiring screen rights.
The novel by Josh Bazell is about a Manhattan emergency room doctor, whose life becomes full of twists and turns when a mobster identifies the doc from his earlier life as a hitman who went into the witness protection program.
According to Variety, the book is just being published by Little Brown, which acquired the title in an eight-house auction in 2007. Bazell, a medical intern, was in his hospital scrubs on the night shift as publishers waged a seven-figure fight for his first novel.
Talking to MTV News, Leonardo diCaprio revealed that he is waiting for the final draft of the live-action remake of classic anime film Akira. He also noted that Ninja Scroll is still in early development stage.
One can easily epect Hollywood to screw up these projects, but diCaprio seems committed not to make them fail.
"I’m a big fan of Japanese anime… I know there a lot of loyal fans out there of the project and die-hard fans, so we’re going to try to do the best job we possibly can and we’re not going to make the movie until the script is in the right shape," he said.
Finally, he added that he has no plans to star in either film though his Appian Way company is producing both projects.
Ninja Scroll is set to be written by Alex Tse (Watchmen) for a Warner Bros. adaptation of the popular, classic Japanese anime feature. Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, is producing in conjunction with Madhouse Pictures and Jungo Maruta.
Ninja Scroll classed together with Akira and Ghost in the Shell is one of the most popular animes out of Japan. The story follows a ninja during feudal Japan who must fight eight demonic warriors in order to save Japan.
The original movie was rated R and released in Japan in 1993. It featured a stone skin villain, a hunchback with a wasp nest as his hump and woman whose snake tattoos come to life.
With Alex Tse set to write the script, the adaptation should generate some real players.
