Taking Chances stars Kevin Bacon and premieres at Sundance on January 16, 2009. It was written and directed by Ross Katz. Katz has produced a couple of Oscar nominated films, including In the Bedroom and Lost in Translation. Taking Chances is Katz’s feature debut as a writer and director. The screenplay was co-scripted by Katz and Michael Strobl.
Rumors are that it’s a war film worth watching. From what I can tell, the trailer tugs at your heart strings.
Variety reports that Kevin Bacon is preparing a series about Lincoln’s assassin John Wilkes Booth for Showtime.
Dubbed The Booths, the series will revolve around the family of John Wilkes Booth and his dysfunctional relationships in the years before Lincoln’s assassination.
Booth had two brothers – Edwin and Junius Brutus Jr. – with whom he performed on stage once, in a New York showing of Julius Caesar in 1864. He assassinated President Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in 1865.

Brendan Fraser’s character and storyline interested me the most. He plays a clairvoyant gangster who predicts the death or dangers of others.
The movie is not uplifting as it might appear with a butterfly add here and there. Although Kevin Bacon’s character offers some respite toward the end.
Andy Garcia is mentioned last because I have seen him play characters that are very loving and caring. In The Air I Breathe he plays a character called “Fingers” – he cuts off fingers of those who don’t pay off their debts. To say the least he’s quite convincing.

I have been hearing about “My One and Only” since January of this year. “My One and Only” is based on George Hamilton’s childhood adventures as he and his brother took a road trip with their eccentrically glamorous mom, who drove along the East Coast looking for a rich man to take care of the family.
Kevin Bacon has joined the cast, including Renee Zellwegger, Chris North, Nick Stahl and Logan Lerman.
Bacon is set to play the philandering band leader their mom tries to leave.
Sounds like “My One and Only” is coming into full fruition as filming has begun in Baltimore.
