Due Date nabs Robert Downey, Jr. who will star with Zach Galifianakis in Todd Phillips directed-comedy for Warner iron-man-tony-stark-robert-downey-jr.jpgBros. this fall.

Downey will play an expectant father who finds himself on a road trip with a mismatched partner. But he must make it to the birth of his first child and races to get there before its due date.

I am so happy to see Downy in a comedy again. He has great timing and his energy never stops.

Galifianakis, who starred for Phillips in The Hangover, plays his road trip mate in a comedy that Phillips calls “a buddy comedy without the buddies.”

Shooting starts in September with filming locations being in Atlanta, Arizona and Los Angeles. That’s quite a road trip movie.

To say Comic-Con is a big deal would be an understatement.  The convention kicks off tonight at the San Diego Convention Center and runs through the weekend. Quite a few heavy hitters plan to attend from James Cameron generating more fans for Avatar to Mickey Rourke promoting Iron Man 2.  We mustn’t forget televisions shows from “Heroes” to “Burn Notice.”

Some folks call Comic-Con an audition for Hollywood.  I rather think of it as a promotional frenzy for those who twitter and visit YouTube for a glimpse of the upcoming films and television shows.  Scott Bowles of USA Today calls it a “kind of an American Idol-style tryout for Hollywood.”

Unfortunately, I won’t be there this year, but hope to report anyhow through intelligence from Internet acquaintances.  But, don’t get me wrong, I wish I could be there in the frenzy. My email cache is filled with invitations from various media outlets inviting me to visit their booths or view their footage. Alas!

With that being said, USA Today posted a very informative point of view on Comic-Con with a little bit of history added to the hype.  You will also find plenty of production stills from Iron Man 2.

‘Nothing Escapes Him’ is a perfect phrase to describe Sherlock Holmes.  Downey, Jr.’s look is fabulous, very old but fresh.  Guess when the movie opens?

What happens when a superhero’s true identity is revealed?  In Iron Man 2 we will explore that according to director Jon Favreau. The photo is from USA Today’s article on the sequel where Favreau talks about the next Iron Man. ironman2x-large

New in Town

You got to watch New In Town trailer. It is so funny. The actors play beautifully off each other. The timing is great. It doesn’t take much to realize how good this movie will be in the theaters.

The movie is directed by Jonas Elmer. It’s about Lucy Hill (Renée Zellweger,) an ambitious, up and coming executive living in Miami. She loves her shoes, she loves her cars and she loves climbing the corporate ladder.

When she is offered a temporary assignment – in the middle of nowhere – to restructure a manufacturing plant, she jumps at the opportunity, knowing that a big promotion is close at hand. What begins as a straight forward job assignment becomes a life changing experience as Lucy discovers greater meaning in her life and most unexpectedly, the man of her dreams (Harry Connick, Jr.).

On the wave of success of Iron Man and the anticipation of Tropic Thunder, Robert Downey, Jr. is set to star in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.

After reading the script by Anthony Peckham, Downey committed to the film. Filming begins in October.

Downey will make a great Sherlock Holmes.  I thought he was fantastic as Charlie Chaplin in his characterization and physical changes, which will add a lot to Holmes.

From what I have seen in Tropic Thunder trailers and film clips Downey hits the mark as a white man playing a soul man in black skin.

Sherlock Holmes will be based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic tales, but also the comic book “Sherlock Holmes.”

"Tropic Thunder" looks like a funny movie. Just watch the trailer. Tom Cruise has a cameo appearance as a fat, bald film producer of some sort. It's all rumored, but should prove fruitful at the movie theaters.

"Thunder" stars Robert Downy, Jr., Ben Stiller, Nick Nolte and Jack Black.

The opening day is August 15th.

Here is an awesome review of the highly-anticipated movie “Iron Man.”  I have seen the trailer, the movie is an ideal summer hit.

“Finally, someone’s found a sure-fire way to make money with a modern Middle East war movie: Just send a Marvel superhero into the fray to kick some insurgent butt. The powerhouse comicbook-inspired actioner “Iron Man” isn’t principally about this fantasy, but it won’t hurt at least American audiences’ enjoyment of this expansively entertaining special effects extravaganza. Having an actor as supercharged as Robert Downey Jr. at the center of such a tech-oriented enterprise reps a huge plus, and Paramount should reap big B.O. rewards by getting out ahead of the summer tentpole pack with such a classy refitting of an overworked format.”
